On
Thursday, June 23rd at 7 PM, Playwright and actor Charles Busch will host True Colors: A
Celebration of Music and Dance at Lincoln Center at the Rose Theater, Frederick P. Rose Hall, Time Warner Center (Broadway at 60th Street).
The evening
will feature performances by an all-star line-up of entertainers
including: Cyndi Lauper, Donna Murphy, Barbara Cook, Billy Porter,
John Tartaglia, Lillias White, jazz artists Fred Hersch and Andy Bey,
opera singers Patricia Racette and Beth Clayton, classical violinist
Leila Josefowicz, STREB, the innovative modern dance/movement troupe,
and more. Known for his campily comic sensibilities, Busch was represented on Broadway by his play, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife (for which he won the Outer
Critics Circle John Gassner Award for
Playwrighting). His off-Broadway credits include Times Square Angel, The Lady in
Question, Red Scare on Sunset, You
Should Be So Lucky, Queen Amarantha, Vampires Lesbians of Sodom,
Shanghai Moon and Flipping My
Wig, all shows in which he also acted. He appeared in a staged reading of Auntie Mame at the Bay Street Theatre to benefit BC/EFA--of course, he played the title role. His film credits include Die, Mommy, Die! and the screen adaptation of his stage hit Pyscho Beach Party.
A benefit cocktail party follows the 7:00 pm
performance. For more information and to order tickets, call
