Bryan Batt, Patricia Clarkson, Set for LOVE LETTERS at Le Petit Theatre

By:

Broadway's Bryan Batt and Patricia Clarkson are set to star in LOVE LETTERS by A.R. Gurney. The show will benefit New Orleans' Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré and will be presented in memory of Mrs. Gayle Batt. The event will be held for two nights only on March 18 and 20. For tickets to the event, click here.

Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré works to provide a balance of thought provoking plays and musicals with lighter works to audiences in the greater New Orleans area. This balance allows us to tap into virtually every socioeconomic and ethnic group within the region.

Broadway Bridge is a new program made possible through a community partnership with New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA). Held as six, full-day workshops, this program for young artists provides the perfect opportunity for young stars to learn everything there is to know about the business of show business. Wrapped around a single Sunday matinee of each Main Stage production, the program combines hands-on learning and entertainment through master classes, social interaction, and performance. Each participant gets a behind-the-scenes look at the process of putting together a professional production.

Children's Corner founded in 1970, this series of children's theatrical productions was created to foster and develop an appreciation for the arts to young audiences in underserved areas of the city. The series allows local elementary and middle school children the opportunity to actively participate in and enjoy productions under the guidance of our professionally trained staff.

The New Musical Works Festival is the theatre's newest program designed to encourage musical theatre composers, writers and lyricists from all over the world. Each submission will be read and reviewed by a board of honored New Orleanians, and three finalists will have their work presented for a one-night-only staged reading on the Muriel's Cabaret Stage in March 2011. Of these, one new work will be chosen to have a fully-staged production on the Muriel's Cabaret Stage during the 2011/2012 Season.

The productions of Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré attract audiences predominantly within a fifty-mile radius of the City of New Orleans. Our diverse membership includes theatre lovers of every age, race, and cultural background including African-American, Asian American, Hispanic and Caucasian. The income range of our membership spans from lower middle to upper class. Our audience ranges from 5-95 years of age.

Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts organization whose mission is to provide a wide range of quality theatrical productions and programming to entertain, enrich and educate the diverse population of our region and enhance the economic vitality of the city of New Orleans. Founded in 1916, LPT is the oldest continuously running community-based theatre in the country and a cultural icon in the New Orleans theatre and performing arts community. LPT features a full season of new and traditional musical productions as well as an eclectic mix of other programming on both its Main Stage and smaller, Muriel's Cabaret Stage. Whether it is teacher training, a stage performance experience, lecture series, children's theatre or master class, LPT continues to expand the scope of its artistic outreach efforts in New Orleans and the surrounding areas.
