The Denver Post has reported that Brooklyn: the Musical will head off on a 60-stop national tour next year.

Forty-five of the venues have already been booked, among them the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, MN.  Brooklyn will be at the Ordway Center's Main Hall from June 20th to the 25th, 2006.

The show tells the whimsical urban fairy tale of a Parisian street singer who goes to her namesake city in search of her father; she finds fame as a pop star along the way.

Brooklyn, which features both a pop-soul score and book by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson, played its first preview at the Plymouth (now the Gerald Schoenfeld) Theatre on September 23rd, 2004 before officially opening on October 21st.  Jeff Calhoun directed, while Eden Espinosa, Ramona Keller, Cleavant Derricks, Kevin Anderson and Karen Olivo starred.  To date, the musical has played just over 300 performances.

Production sources have confirmed to BroadwayWorld.com that Brooklyn will indeed tour, though were unable to comment on any potential or confirmed stops at this time other than the already announced Ordway venue.

Brooklyn: the Musical tickets are currently on sale only for Ordway season subscriptions; single tickets will be sold in late summer.
