Broadway stars (led by Mamma Mia's Monica Kapoor) will lead hundreds of New Yorkers in an immersive dance workout called Garjana (a project of the nonprofit Food Tank) with 100 percent of ticket revenue supporting hurricane survivors through #GiveHealthy and Feeding America as well as the World Food Program USA's projects to help solve global hunger.

"Dance for Puerto Rico" takes place on Monday, October 16 - United Nations World Food Day - at the Union Square Ballroom (27 Union Square West, New York, NY 10003) from 5:30PM to 7:00PM. Food is included. More event details HERE.

The event will also include fire breathers, performances from amazing NYC dance studios representing styles from five continents, and an immersive dance workout with all-new music from DJ Will Buck (whose credits range from Florence + The Machine to Method Man) and Doug Romanow (whose credits include Tyga and Justin Bieber). It will be led by Broadway Stars (from Mamma Mia, Memphis, Aladdin, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and more) and accompanied by delicious healthy food and snacks donated by Great Performances.

Called Garjana (FoodTank.com/Garjana), this partnership between the food, theater, fitness, and dance communities is already selling out venues across New York City. Playbill Magazine has said, "Garjana is about to be New York City's hottest trend, and it's powered by Broadway dancers." Billboard magazine says Garjana offers, "abundant smiles, encouragement, laughs."

Several recent studies have found that millennials are now choosing dancing over drinking, clean living over cocktails, and connecting with people over isolation with their iPhones. Garjana is their new outlet.

The U.N. World Food Day is celebrated around the world each year to honor the anniversary of the founding of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. This event is in partnership with the United Nations World Food Program USA.
