Broadway Records celebrates their first ever Grammy nomination for the Original Broadway Cast Recording of the Tony Award winning MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Broadway Records released this cast album in conjunction with Yellow Sound Label. MATILDA THE MUSICAL was the third original cast album, sixteenth album overall, released by the two-year old record label dedicated to Broadway and Off Broadway-related recordings.

"We are incredibly honored to receive this Grammy nomination for MATILDA THE MUSICAL in our second year as a label. It is an affirmation of our mission to preserve recordings of quality works of musical theater. We are thrilled to share this nomination with the cast, fellow album producers and the creative team behind this inventive and magical musical," stated Broadway Records co-founder Van Dean, who, along with Michael Croiter and Chris Nightingale, produced the MATILDA THE MUSICAL album.

In addition to MATILDA THE MUSICAL, Broadway Records has released the Original Broadway Cast Recordings for Bonnie and Clyde and Lysistrata Jones and studio recordings of LIZZIE, Meet John Doe, Jekyll & Hyde with Deborah Cox and Constantine Maroulis and an EP of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying with Nick Jonas. Forthcoming cast albums planned for early 2014 include Big Fish and more titles to be announced shortly. Broadway Records, in partnership with 54 BELOW, has also released numerous live cabaret recordings from artists including Patti LuPone, Norbert Leo Butz, Christiane Noll, Andrea McArdle and, more recently, Aaron Tveit, Laura Benanti, Michael Cerveris, Sierra Boggess and Bebe Neuwirth.

Winner of a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards including Best Musical, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox). MATILDA THE MUSICAL was recently named the #1 musical or play of 2013 by Time Magazine. It is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny.

Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, the Broadway smash opened in April at the Shubert Theatre to rapturous reviews. MATILDA THE MUSICAL received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, four Tony Awards and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater for each of the four girls sharing the title role, five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, as well as two Outer Critics Circle Awards.
