Brittany Davis Shares New Single BEHIND THE DOOR
The track features Evan Flory-Barnes, D'Vonne Lewis, and Owour Arunga, with production by Josh Evans.
Seattle-based artist Brittany Davis has shared a new single, 'Behind the Door.' It marks her first new music since her acclaimed 2025 album, BLACK THUNDER, which was completely improvised in the studio over just two days. The song—which has already landed a spot on Tidal's Vocal Jazz playlist—arrives in the midst of Davis' most high-profile summer of shows to date, including performances at the Newport Folk Festival, Montreal International Jazz Festival, and Rochester International Jazz Festival. She is also set to headline two hometown shows at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley on August 25 and 26, with upcoming fall appearances at the Monterey Jazz Festival in September and SFJAZZ in November.
'This song was really about being lost in my own thoughts and existing as an imposter in my own mind,' says Davis. 'I was trying to make sense of my inner reality and my outer reality, but refusing to go behind the door and figure out what was truly there in every capacity.'
'Behind the Door' features Evan Flory-Barnes on upright bass, D'Vonne Lewis on drums, and Owour Arunga on trumpet. Produced by Josh Evans, it was recorded at Studio Litho. Davis is currently putting the finishing touches on a new studio album set for release in 2027 on Loosegroove Records.
