Breaking News: ROCK OF AGES Sets Broadway Closing Date

The producers of the five-time Tony Award-nominated ROCK OF AGES announced today that the production will play its final performance on Sunday, January 18, 2015 after 22 preview and 2,328 Broadway performances, solidifying its spot as the 27th longest running show in Broadway history.

"It's hard to believe that a decade has passed since our 45-minute showcase at King King, a little dive bar on Hollywood Boulevard. That was the night Rock of Ages came to life, and what this incredible team has achieved since is nothing short of triumphant," said producer Matthew Weaver. "We landed Off-Broadway in the midst of the financial meltdown and yet, against all odds - thanks to the sheer determination, grit, naivety and enthusiasm of our dream team of creatives, actors and producers - opened on Broadway in the spring of 2009 to an overwhelming embrace from critics and audiences alike. To have that lead to the launch of over a dozen productions worldwide has been a glorious dream come true."

"As a team we've experienced the greatest - and in many ways, unexpected - joys of having a hit show and being a part of the Broadway community," added producer Jonathan Linden. "From performing at The Tony Awards, to the Super Bowl, and Times Square on New Year's Eve, this has been the ride of a lifetime for the entire Rock of Ages family and I am so proud of what we've all accomplished. And on the road to our final performance, I'm thrilled our cast is one of the finest we've ever had - with seven members of the original Broadway company teamed up with some of the brightest, new talent Broadway has ever seen."

ROCK OF AGES had its world premiere in January 2006 at The Vanguard Hollywood nightclub in Los Angeles, where it played a six-week engagement before opening a limited run at The Flamingo in Las Vegas in May 2006. The musical made its New York debut in October 2008 at Off-Broadway's New World Stages, playing 110 performances before transferring to Broadway and opening to widespread critical acclaim at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The musical moved to its current home, The Helen Hayes Theatre, on March 24, 2011. In 2012, ROCK OF AGES recouped its capitalization of $7.25 million, in addition to all costs incurred during the show's move from the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to the Helen Hayes Theatre. Now in its sixth year, the smash hit musical has grossed over $125 million on Broadway alone, where it has been seen by nearly 1.5 million people, and broken the Box Office Record at the Helen Hayes Theatre ten times.

In addition to being a bona fide hit on Broadway, ROCK OF AGES is currently rocking the Las Vegas Strip at The Venetian Resort; the open seas on Norwegian's cruise ship The Breakaway; and the open road on its third U.S. National Tour and first U.K. National Tour. The show was also a runaway success in Toronto, Australia, and London's West End, and has licensed productions in several additional countries, including Mexico, Sweden, Korea, Japan and The Philippines. In 2012, ROCK OF AGES hit the silver screen as a major motion picture starring Tom Cruise.

The music that ignited a generation is heating up Broadway in the five-time Tony Award-nominated musical ROCK OF AGES. The hilarious, tongue-in-cheek love story erupts into Broadway's Best Party, all to the sounds of such feel-good, sing-out-loud songs as "I Wanna Know What Love Is", "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "Wanted Dead Or Alive," "Here I Go Again", "Don't Stop Believin" and more.

ROCK OF AGES currently stars a "Supergroup" of performers including Tony Award-nominated original star Constantine Maroulis as "Drew", Lauren Zakrin as "Sherrie," YouTube sensation Chester See as "Stacee Jaxx" through January 4, Genson Blimline as "Lonny," Original Broadway cast memberAdam Dannheisser as "Dennis," Big Brother star Frankie J. Grande as "Franz," Original Toronto cast member Josephine Rose Roberts as "Regina," Original Broadway cast member Paul Schoeffler as "Hertz," and Original National Tour cast member Teresa Stanley as "Justice." Rounding out the cast are Tessa Alves, Cristy Candler, Lisa Finegold, Alyssa Herrera, Tony LePage, Michael Minarik, Josh Sassanella and Andre Ward.

ROCK OF AGES is produced on Broadway and worldwide by Matthew Weaver, Michael Cohl and Jonathan Linden/S2BN Entertainment with Carl Levin, Jeff Davis, Barry Habib, Scott Prisand, Reagan Silber, Relativity Media, Janet Billig Rich and Hillary Weaver.

The performance schedule is Monday at 8pm, Tuesday at 7pm, Thursday at 8pm, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm and Sunday at 3pm & 7:30pm.
