Tony Award winners Kathleen Marshall and Dick Latessa bring together Broadway stars to help raise funds for Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY), which uses drama therapy to empower children and adults who have endured trauma to rebuild their lives.

This year's 2014 Annual "Theater & Therapy Gala will be held TONIGHT, Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Edison Hotel Ballroom (240 West 47th Street). The 2014 Honoree is CANY's Executive Director Jonathan Hilton, who is retiring after an illustrious career of thirty years in drama therapy and nonprofit management.

Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails, appetizers and silent auction. Dinner, show and live auction start at 7:15 p.m. and will include performances by Bobby Steggert (Big Fish; Mothers and Sons) and Toby Lightman, acclaimed BMI Recording Artist with songs featured in PS I Love You, "Desperate Housewives," "Bones," and more, and special guest auctioneer, Tony Award winner, Cady Huffman.

For over thirty years, Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY) has been offering drama therapy programs to traumatized children and adults in the New York Metropolitan area, helping them to build new life skills and realize their potential through the art of drama. Working in partnership with 20 leading social service agencies and health care institutions, CANY serves almost 1,500 children and adults annually in residential centers for children and youth, special schools, veterans mental health centers, and domestic violence safe shelters.

"As an artist, I strongly believe that theatre can change lives, "said Academy Award-winner and CANY Broadway Board member Susan Sarandon. "At CANY this is being proven on a daily basis."
