Broadway and television veterans Stephanie J. Block (The Boy From Oz, Wicked tour, upcoming The Pirate Queen), Sean Dugan (Corpus Christi, HBO television "Oz") and Harvey Evans (original cast of Follies) will join thirty talented young people from the California Conservatory of the Arts in a staged reading of a new musical, How The Nurse Feels, on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at New World Stages, 340 W. 50th Street in Theatre One at 2:30 pm.

The reading will be directed by Tony-Nominated actress Jonelle Allen (Two Gentlemen of Verona; TV's "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman").
"The professional actors are acting as teachers for these young people as they take their classroom to the Great White Way, learning what it is like to take a new musical from page to stage," according to press notes. How The Nurse Feels is based on a short story by Greg Changnon and is a coming of age story about a young girl from Winnetka, Illinois who is cast as the Nurse in her high school production of Romeo and Juliet. It deals with contemporary social issues seen through the eyes of teenagers.

The show features music by John Glaudini, lyrics by David Green and a book by David Green and Debbie Lamedman. Green is the Executive Director of the Conservatory and his alumni include Tony-nominated actors Susan Egan and Matthew Morrison in addition to Block.

The reading is an educational experience for the young people rather than a performance, and is not open to the general public. However a limited number of seats are available to interested individuals who contact the Conservatory directly to be added to the guest list.

The California Conservatory of the Arts is a non-profit educational organization located in Orange County, California, which provides comprehensive, pre-professional training to young people, selected by audition, in the performing and visual arts. Musical Theatre is the school's primary focus and the faculty is made up of working professional actors, directors, writers, choreographers and designers form stage, film and television.

For an invitation, to the reading contact the Conservatory by phone (949)487-7253 or by email:
