Now in its 16th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook continues to expand its scope in celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting.

Ebullient triple-threat and Tony and Drama Desk Award winner Billy Porter is a true New York City theater success story. As comfortable in a fully staged production as he is in a stripped-down studio with only a microphone in hand, the versatile and altogether irresistible Kinky Boots star appears here where his talents shine brightest-at center stage.

Tonight in the Appel Room, music from his latest album of jazz-inflected Broadway standards, Billy's Back on Broadway, has a starring role. Mr. Porter is joined by Grammy and Emmy-winning artist and pop icon Cyndi Lauper-the musical mastermind behindKinky Boots-for a duet performance of "Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy."

For four decades, LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER has presented the world's greatest performing artists. Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, Josh Groban, Audra McDonald, and dozens more have graced Lincoln Center's hallowed stages for concerts broadcast across the country. Now celebrating its 40th anniversary, the pioneering series has collected 13 Emmy Awards and been seen by hundreds of millions of viewers.

The concert will air April 3 on PBS. For additional information, visit americansongbook.org.
