Five-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles is the latest pop star to have a go at writing a Broadway musical, and she sure learned quickly how it's done. Her wonderfully textured, Tony-nominated, character-driven score for WAITRESS ranks as one of the top debuts of the previous Broadway season and musical theatre fans are hoping she'll come back with more.

Charitybuzz is now hosting a web auction to meet Sara Bareilles after taking in a performance of WAITRESS. The highest bid will benefit the onePULSE Foundation, the official 501(c)(3) incorporated by the owners of Pulse Nightclub. Their mission is to provide financial assistance to the victims affected by the attack at Pulse Nightclub. Through the end of 2016, 90% of the funds raised will go to the National Compassion Fund, with the remainder contributing to the creation of a permanent memorial at the existing site of Pulse Nightclub, which will ultimately provide a sanctuary of hope dedicated to the lives affected and taken by the tragedy in Orlando, FL. on 06/12/2016. Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress began performances on March 25 and opened April 24 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street).

Waitress is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

Producers have announced that the national tour of the acclaimed new musical will begin at Cleveland's Playhouse Square on October 17, 2017.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna (Jessie Mueller), an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor (Drew Gehling) may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow Waitresses (Jenna Ushkowitz and Keala Settle) offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This new American musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
