Betty Buckley Offering NYC Song Interpretation & Monologue Workshops This August-October

While starring in the world premiere of Horton Foote's "The Old Friends" at The Signature Theatre, Theater Hall of Fame 2012 honoree, Tony Award Winner and legendary Broadway star Betty Buckley will be offering her Song Interpretation & Monologue Workshop at the T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre on select Monday nights. One of the foremost professional theatre studios in New York City. Established in 1969, T. Schreiber has been a home and training ground for many artists who have gone on to successful careers in theatre, film, and television. The Tony Award Winner will assist aspiring artists, educators and experienced performers in the craft of singing, acting and storytelling.

Having starred in the London premiere of "Dear World" earlier this year, Buckley will star along side Lois Smith and HAllie Foote in "The Old Friends" directed by Michael Wilson which begins performances on August 20.

Ms. Buckley's Workshops include high school age, amateur and professional singers and actors. Auditors are welcome at a reduced fee and will participate in the group exercises. Full participants will also do one on one work with Ms. Buckley directing their songs or monologues.

Ms. Buckley is especially proud of her high school students, all of whom, through the work they have done in her past Workshops, have been admitted to the universities & performing arts conservatories of their choice. "It gives me such joy to assist the growth of my younger students and to facilitate the dreams of my mature students to step into their true potential. It is my privilege to pass along the tools given to me by my great teachers," Buckley said.

Actress/Singer Buckley, additionally a film, television and concert/recording artist shares her expertise and guides her students through a methodology that facilitates audience connection through songs and monologues. Her emotional connection to songs and audiences is renowned, and that very connection is at the heart of what Ms. Buckley imparts to her students.

Ms. Buckley just starred in the critically acclaimed London premiere of Jerry Herman's Dear World directed by Gillian Lynne. She is a recurring guest star on ABC Family's mega-hit show Pretty Little Liars. Her new critically acclaimed show, "The Vixens of Broadway" debuted at Feinstein's, New York City's illustrious cabaret room. In 2012, she co-starred in Dallas Theatre Center's smash hit Arsenic and Old Lace. The Tony award winner has thrilled audiences with acclaimed performances in such shows in Broadway and on London's West End as Sunset Boulevard, Cats, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Carrie, Song & Dance, Triumph of Love, Pippin, Promise, Promises and 1776. Her highly praised starring role in the M. Night Shyamalan feature film The Happening, joins her other memorable film performances including Tender Mercies, Frantic, and Carrie. Last year she appeared in the new Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg mini-series The Pacific on HBO and she stars in the new film Five Time Champion, a film festival winner which recently ran in New York City.

In addition to her 2012 Theater Hall of Fame induction, Ms. Buckley was honored with the Texas Medal of Arts Award for Theater in 2009 and was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in 2007. She is a Tony Award Winner & has been nominated for a second Tony, an Olivier Award & Evening Standard Award in London. She has received two Emmy nominations for her work in television & two Grammy nominations for her recordings.

The actor-singer works regularly in concert with her ensemble of musicians. In her newest CD Ah, Men! The Boys of Broadway, Buckley shares her favorite Broadway songs originally written for men from classic shows. Her solo CD, Stars and the Moon: Betty Buckley Live at the Donmar Warehouse, received a Grammy nomination. In 2007, she released a new CD Betty Buckley 1967, which hit the Billboard charts. In 2008, Quintessence with her quintet was released by Playbill and Sony BMG Broadway Masterworks. Bootleg: Boardmixes from the Road was released in 2011 and she has a new upcoming recording to be released by Palmetto Records in 2014 --Ghostlight produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett.
