Ben Vereen's performance in 'Broadway Legends: An Evening with Ben Vereen' at the Hartford Stage will be recorded live on July 7 and July 8 for Vereen's album, Vereen announces on his Twitter account

Vereen's performance will pay tribute to Broadway, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis Junior.  He will perform numbers including 'Defying Gravity,' 'Being Alive,' 'Something's Coming,' and 'Life is a Just a Bowl of Cherries.'  Ben Vereen will appear at the Hartford Stage from July 6 to July 11. 

Tony Award winner Ben Vereen's Broadway credits include PIPPIN, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, WICKED, HAIR, GRIND, FOSSE, JELLY'S LAST JAM, and I'M NOT RAPPAPORT.  His other theatre credits include THE EXONERATED and CHICAGO.  On screen, Vereen has appeared in 'Sweet Charity,' 'Funny Lady,' 'All That Jazz,' and television's 'Roots,' among others.  He won a Tony Award in 1973 for his performance in PIPPIN and was nominated for an additional Tony award for JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.
