Bebe Neuwirth to Host Broadway Association Luncheon, 3/25

Bebe Neuwirth, currently starring on as Morticia in Broadway's soon-to-open The Addams Family, will be Master of Ceremonies for the Broadway Association's Annual Award Luncheon.  The event will take place on Thursday, March 25 at the Marriott Marquis. Honorees include: The Actors Fund, Dennis Swanson, and Richard Basini.

Neuwirth most recently appeared on Broadway as Roxie in Chicago, the same production for which she won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and an Astaire Award for her turn as Velma, making her the only triple-threat to play both leading lady roles on Broadway. She also received a Tony Award for her role as Nickie in Sweet Charity. Her other Broadway credits include Fosse, Damn Yankees, Dancin', Little Me and A Chorus Line.  Neuwirth has been crossing the country with Bebe Sings Weill and Kander & Ebb for the past two years, working with such venerable symphonies as the Seattle Symphony and the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra. Recent concert performances include a piano/cabaret show, Stories With Piano, which opened at Feinstein's in NYC to rave reviews.

Her work in film includes Liberty Heights, Summer of Sam, Celebrity, Jumanji, The Green Card, The Paint Job, Bugsy and Tadpole among others. On television she is well known for her role of Lilith Sternin on "Cheers," for which she won two Emmy Awards. Other television appearances include her Emmy nominated portrayal of Dorothy Parker in "Dash and Lily" and guest work on "Frasier" and "Star Trek, the Next Generation." A few seasons ago, she starred for NBC in "Law & Order - Trial by Jury."

Founded in 1911, the Broadway Association has been one of the moving forces in establishing Times Square as the Entertainment Capital of the World. The Association holds monthly luncheons that act as a forum to address topical issues important to the area. Recent speakers include DM Kevin Sheekey, New York State Chief Judge Judith Kaye, publishers Arthur Sulzberger Jr. and Tim Zagat, Commissioner Ray Kelly, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., City Council President Christine Quinn, in addition to other city officials, developers and Broadway stakeholders.

The association's Annual Awards Luncheon unites the entire community, bringing members and guests together to exchange ideas and renew friendships. Recent recipients of the Golden Scroll Award include the Time Square Alliance, the Midtown Community Court, IATSE, New York City Police Foundation, Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, Theatre Row, Gray Line New York Sightseeing, and Marriott International among others.
