Bay Street Theatre kicks in 2010 with a shout out to artists of every ilk; from jazz musicians to singer-songwriters to creators of musical theatre. In addition to the already popular Thursday night Jam Sessions, Bay Street Theatre has added Singer-Songwriter Sundays beginning on January 17th from 5 - 7pm and two new musical works-in-progress with performances on Saturday, January 23rd and February 27th.

Over the last three years, Sag Harbor resident and Liverpudlian singer and songwriter, Bryan Downey, has sought out the most talented artists on the East End and recorded them at his local Bulldog Recording Studio. These talents will be featured at Bay Street's SINGER-SONGWRITER SUNDAYS performing original songs in a unique format sure to please both young and old alike! The line-up will include up and coming talent such as 16-year-old Shanna Polly from Ross School, recording artist Robert Bruey, the band "The Glazzies" and seasoned pro,Jim Turner. This event is free and open to the public. The Singer Songwriter Series will begin Sunday, January 17th from 5 - 7pm and continue every 1st and 3rd Sunday through March.

From jam sessions to original song to musical theatre-the genre may change, but the venue does not. Bay Street Theatre has something for everyone. Ever wondered how new musicals are made? How the songs and works and actions in a musical come together to form the next potential "Chorus Line" sensation? Wonder no more as Bay Street Theatre presents two musical theater works-in- progress performances, and a chance for the public to pose questions of its creators. THE WORKSHOPS, sponsored in part by the Lucille Lortel Foundation, allow writers, producers and actors to come together for a short period of time to develop theatrical pieces that may one day appear on the Broadway stage!

The first workshop, MURDER FOR TWO, is a classic ‘who dunnit' and contains more laughs and songs than bullets or blood. With music and book by Joe Kinosian and lyrics and book by Kellen Blair, the list of suspects reads like a who's who of crazy; from a wife who seems more concerned about who stole the ice cream than who murdered her husband, to a 12 member boys choir that is 9 boys short, this work in progress is certainly one worth seeing! The performance will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at 8pm. Tickets are $15 and a Q & A with the creators will follow. Murder For Two will be followed by a second workshop, THE CHALKS, also a musical work-in-progress to be presented on Saturday, February 27th at 8pm. Doors will open at 7:30 pm and tickets will be sold at the door.

While the Bay Street box office is closed, tickets for all events can be purchased on the night of the performances. For questions or more information call the administrative office at 631-725-0818 or visit www.baystreet.org.
