Bari Koral and the Bari Koral Family Rock Band Celebrate Their Release Of 'Rock and Roll Garden' 1/23/2010

By: Dec. 21, 2009

Preschoolers are dear to the heart of popular singer/songwriter and educator Bari Koral. Bari Koral and the Bari Koral Family Rock Band are thrilled to celebrate the release of their first full-length CD, Rock and Roll Garden, with a show benefiting the Upper West Side Preschool Program of the Brownstone School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23. This performance will take place in the PS 87 Auditorium, 160 W. 78th St., NYC.

Before entering the world of children's music, Bari Koral spent the better part of eight years touring as a successful folk/pop singer, ultimately becoming one of the top grossing acts on the college circuit, frequently compared to such singer-songwriters as Jewel, Norah Jones and Joan Osborne. Bari's CD Release Show audience will be treated to a celebratory, high energy, interactive performance for the whole family, featuring tunes from Rock and Roll Garden, along with "Bari Koral favorites" from the band's touring shows and their 2007 debut recording, a 6-song EP titled Bari Koral Family Rock Band that definitely made its mark in the kids' music world.

Bari says, "We are SO happy to be sharing music from this new album with families in our ‘home town.' These are songs that have been very popular in concert, and now we finally have them recorded. There will be lots of sing-alongs and opportunities to dance, with songs where kids drive cars, surf the waves, fly like butterflies, pop like popcorn, and more. We're planning some dance contests, too, to give adults in the room a chance to show off their dance moves (and their stamina) to our song, ‘Dance All Day,' which gets faster and faster and faster! We'll have prizes and giveaways, including free duckies, in honor of our song, ‘Hey Ducky,' and some amazing tie-dyed t-shirts. At the end of the show, we'll call the children up on stage with us, so they can ‘jam with the band.' We want these performances to be really festive, honoring not only Rock and Roll Garden, but also friendship, family, school, and home!"

With influences ranging from Blondie to the Hokey Pokey, many say the Bari Koral Family Rock Band is making some of today's best music for kids and their parents. The New York Post declared, "Thanks to a catchy, Beatles-influenced pop sound, parents won't even care that Bari Koral's Family Rock and Roll Band is singing about farms and cars. Little ones will happily sing along with the proclaimed ‘Sheryl Crow for kids.'" Wrote New York Magazine, "Female rockers rule! Especially those who play for kids. Check out Bari Koral and her Family Rock Band. The lyrics are kid friendly (cars, waves, airplanes, farms), but the sound is pure parent pleasure: real rock. If you're toe-tapping, Koral's job is done; she's all about getting parents up and dancing."

An educator, as well as a recording artist, Bari Koral receives tremendous inspiration from children. Yet, because she made her living for many years singing songs for adults, she is also able to offer an enjoyable artistic experience for parents. By combining her ever-growing knowledge of early childhood development with the strong songwriting skills acquired through many years of recording and performing for adults, Bari is truly able to write and perform "rock songs for kids that parents dig."

Rock and Roll Garden is Bari Koral's debut full-length children's album, but it is actually the latest in quite a number of projects, which include The Sun Dance, a yoga/music video that leads kids and adults through the yoga Sun Salutation and promotes balance, flow, and relaxation. (The video can be viewed on Bari's website and YouTube.) Bari teaches yoga classes for both children and adults and enjoys offering relaxation tips for all ages. She is also the originator of the "lunch and learn" lecture, De-Stress at Your DeskTM. De-Stress at Your Desk has, since 2007, taught about the #1 cause of stress and provided tools to control stress to many employees of Fortune 500 companies, including major television networks, airlines, and top law firms, as well as numerous universities. Participants range from CEOs to CFOs, from managers to secretaries, educators, accountants, technicians and lawyers.
