Court Theatre Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert present Court Founding Artistic Director Nicholas Rudall's translation of Euripides' Iphigenia in Aulis, directed by Charles Newell. Iphigenia in Aulis will run through December 7, 2014 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue. Click below to watch highlights from the production!

Inspired by the incredible success of An Iliad, Artistic Director Charles Newell takes on Euripides' ancient tale of power and sacrifice in Iphigenia in Aulis. As the Greek army restlessly paces the silent shores of Aulis, King Agamemnon is faced with a harrowing decision. In return for the winds that would carry his army to victory over Troy, the goddess Artemis has demanded the impossible: the sacrifice of the King's own daughter, Iphigenia. In a translation by Court's Founding Artistic Director Nicholas Rudall, Iphigenia in Aulis is the first installment in a three-year cycle of Greek plays, followed by Aeschylus' Agamemnon and Sophocles' Electra.

Iphigenia in Aulis features Kasey Alfonso (Chorus), Jeanne T. Arrigo (Chorus), Stephanie Andrea Barron (Iphigenia),Jordan Brown (Achilles), Christopher Donahue (Old Man/Messenger), Emjoy Gavino (Chorus), Michael Huftile (Menelaus), Sandra Marquez (Clytemnestra), Mark L. Montgomery (Agamemnon),Tania Richard (Chorus), Adrienne Walker (Chorus), and Tracy Walsh (Chorus).

The creative team includes Scott Davis (Scenic Designer), Jacqueline Ferkins (Costume Designer), John Culbert(Lighting Designer), Andre Pluess (Sound Designer), Tracy Walsh (Choreographer), Amanda Weener-Frederick (Production Stage Manager), and Erin Albrecht (Assistant Stage Manager).
