BWW Interviews: Kristin Chenoweth on San Antonio, Dream Projects, and Her Oscar Pick

Kristin Chenoweth, the Tony-winning actress from Broadway's WICKED and PROMISES, PROMISES and television's "Pushing Daisies" and "GCB" (along with many guest appearances, including an Emmy-winning guest spot on "Glee") is making her long-awaited San Antonio concert debut on February 15 at the Majestic Theatre.

Between her ongoing simultaneous projects, the multi-talented star took the time to discuss her upcoming concert, recent (and dream!) projects, and her choice for the Best Picture Oscar.

Will this be your first visit to San Antonio?
Kristin Chenoweth: I think I was there when I was about 19 years old on a vacation with my mom but I don't remember much because I was only 19! I'm looking forward to trying Bohanan's! I've heard great things.

What are your must dos/must sees/must eats while in town?
KC: I want to have good Mexican food. In any town that I visit, I always like to see their downtown area. I like to see what kind of history they have and a lot of times you can tell that from downtown.

What's in store for your San Antonio audience?
KC: It'll be a combination of opera, musical theater and country music. Everything from my albums and maybe some new things that I'll want to try for the San Antonio audience.

How was it reuniting with Idina Menzel for the recent WICKED 10th Anniversary photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly and revisiting those days?
KC: It was so fun to see her again. I got to see pictures of her little boy, and catch up on her life. It was in some ways as if time never passed but obviously ten years have gone by.

If you could choose any project to do from your wildest dreams - in any medium - what would you choose and why?
KC: I'd love to do a musical for television. I'd love to do "Hello Dolly." I think it's time for a re-visitation of that musical. I'm not sure many people have seen "Mame" either. Of course, I'd love to do anything Madeline Kahn did. So '"On the 20th Century" in a movie or TV format would be amazing too.

What is your next big project?
KC: Right now I'm working on the 100th episode of Glee and then I'll be continuing on the mini tour. I'll be prepping largely for Carnegie Hall in May.

What is your view on social media and its value?
KC: You better get with it if you want to stay in the entertainment business because it's the way of now, not even the future, it's happening. I actually enjoy twitter (@KChenoweth). It's a safe way for me to stay in contact with my fans and most of the time we don't even talk about show business... it's like what you had for dinner.

What is your pick for the Best Picture Oscar?
KC: My boyfriend is the producer of Captain Phillips, but I would say Captain Phillips even if he wasn't.
