Tonight's episode of ABC's THE GOLDBERGS titled 'A Chorus Lie' features a storyline about the iconic Broadway musical A CHORUS LINE. Click here for a sneak peek!

In the episode, as Adam Goldberg (Sean Giambrone) enters puberty, mom Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) does everything in her power to help him through this awkward phase, including his singing voice. So when Adam gets a lead role in the school musical, Beverly convinces Ms. Cinoman (Ana Gasteyer) to have Adam lip sync - just like the musical group Milli Vanilli - while performing in A CHORUS LINE. The episode airs tonight, Wednesday, September 30th (8:30-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Today, THE GOLDBERGS' Sean Giambrone, who portrays Adam Goldberg in the series, speaks exclusively to BWW about the Broadway-themed episode!

While your character Adam lip sync's in this upcoming episode, I was wondering if you have any musical theater background yourself. How familiar were you with the musical, A CHORUS LINE?

In elementary school I sang and danced to "Pink Cadillac" and "Math Stinks" in the variety show, but mostly my musical performances have been on The Goldbergs. Last year, I was in drama class in my high school and we did a musical unit and A Chorus Line was one of them. So I was familiar with A Chorus Line and the basic story line, but I didn't perform anything for it.

Your co-star Ana Gasteyer, who portrays Miss Cinoman, is a Broadway veteran herself. Did she have any pointers for you?

No, we really didn't talk about any musical things, but you could definitely tell she's musically inclined. She would sing little songs in between takes and even though they were funny, they were beautiful.

Your character is based on the childhood of the show's creator Adam F. Goldberg. Was this an actual event that happened in his childhood? How much advice does he give you regarding the portrayal of your character?

We do talk about many of the storylines that happen in the show, but I can't remember if we talked about this one. I'm not sure if this happened; however this is so par for the course in Adam's life, I'm betting that it did.

For one episode of THE GOLDBERGS, you had to learn to play the drums. What have been some of the other challenging things you've had to do for the series?

Fencing, tap dancing, falconry, holding a giant python, it may not have been a giant python, but it was a really big snake. It's all been great!

You work with some entertainment legends on the show. What is that experience like and what have you learned from them?

Somewhat intimidating at first, but once you get to know them, they're absolutely amazing people. What's great is they love to give me pointers and I love to get them. I try to soak it up as much as possible because I know they are incredible actors.

Now that you have experienced what it was like to be a teenager in the 1980's, are there things you wish had stuck around in 2015?

After watching a lot of Adam Goldberg's videos, you can see how easy it is to have simple fun in the 80s. Now it's just too easy today to use video games as a cop out for something to do with your friends rather than using your imagination and coming up with ideas like Adam did. Oh yeah, and I wish there could be more John Hughes' movies.

THE GOLDBERGS stars Wendi McLendon-Covey ("Bridesmaids") as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt ("Ratatouille") as adult Adam Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile ("Good Luck Chuck") as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia ("The X Factor") as Erica Goldberg, AJ Michalka as Lainey Lewis with George Segal ("Just Shoot Me") as Pops Solomon and Jeff Garlin
