It's astounding! The Ringwald Theatre is finally taking on The Rocky Horror Show for the first time with performances beginning Friday, September 29th in Ferndale. "It has been years in the making and we have lots of fun things planned," said director Joe Bailey. "We are going to try to do little nods to the film and, of course, put a little Ringwald spin on it."

"Everyone was really surprised that we haven't done it already," he said. "One thing that has always scared me away from Rocky Horror is that there such devotion to the film, so I was never interested in just recreating the film to the stage." Bailey was determined to find ways to keep show fresh for the stage and still have the Ringwald's personality, but also not let down the fans of Rocky Horror. "I think one of the biggest differences in ours is that Dr. Frank N. Furter is played by Suzan M. Jacokes, which having a female Frank is not traditional," he explained. "She is dynamite. I'm just so excited for people to see her do this because she's amazing. She has this great look for it. It's a little bit unexpected, but I think people will just go along completely willingly once they see her take it over."

According to Bailey, Jennifer Maiseloff is creating a great set design that having them use the Ringwald Theatre like they have never quite used before. "There are going to be people everywhere and with her scenic design we are using every inch of the space," he said. "I think the show will feel almost immersive with the audience being so close with the cast and stuff out amongst them that it will just lend itself to the overall joy of the evening."

"Everyone can come enjoy Rocky Horror how they always enjoyed it with a little extra thrown in there," said Bailey. Performances begin September 29th and end October 30th. Don't miss out! Remember, time is fleeting...

Throughout the run the theatre has lots of the fun events planned including costume contests, dance contests, and goodie bags available for sale. There will also be a special midnight performance on Saturday, October 28th. The Rocky Horror Show opens September 29th in Ferndale. For more information or tickets, visit www.TheRingwald.com.
