The newly formed non-profit theatre organization, De La Flor Company, announced an industry reading of BODAS, a bold new adaption of Federico García Lorca's masterpiece, Blood Wedding, adapted and directed by De La Flor Company's Artistic and Executive Director, Matías De La Flor (Camelot, “Your Friends and Neighbors”).  Following an initial reading on April 24, De La Flor Company along with Melody Brooks (Artistic Director, New Perspectives Theatre Company) will co-produce this encore industry reading on Tuesday, May 5 at 3:00pm at Theatre 555 (555 W. 42nd Street). Industry professionals interested in attending may request seats by emailing bodasnyc@outlook.com

BODAS is a new, bilingual interpretation of Federico García Lorca's masterpiece, Blood Wedding, featuring original musical co-composed by Nico Raimont (Cómo Correr: A Hip Pop Musical) and Marina Pires (How to Dance in Ohio, Sunday in the Park with George). In a small village, two families prepare to unite their legacies through the marriage of their children. But as the bride confronts her commitment to the bridegroom, duty begins to clash with desire when a former lover, deeply entwined in her soul, reenters her life. What follows is a powerful exploration of choice, family, class, and the enduring question passed from one generation to the next: what do we leave behind for our children? With evocative devised storytelling and a striking new interpretation, BODAS is a play with music that reimagines Lorca's classic through a culturally resonant lens, exploring themes of pride, tradition, desire, fate, community, and language.

“This project is a bridge between cultures and an exploration of devised theatre—a living expression of my belief that language is more than words; it is passion,” said De La Flor. “It reflects the core of my mission: to create work that fosters healing, invites discovery, and builds meaningful connection through bold, culturally rooted storytelling.”

The cast features a dynamic ensemble of Latin storytellers, including Nancy Ticotin (West Side Story, In The Heights), Emilia Suárez (“Dexter: Resurrection,” Juliet at A.R.T), Anthony Lee Medina (Hamilton, “Truth Be Told”), Jonathan Arana (On Your Feet, In The Heights), Christopher M. Ramirez (Blood/Love, Giulia), Yani Marin (West Side Story, Dancing), Yesenia Ayala (West Side Story Broadway and Film), Elisa Galdinez (Real Women Have Curves), Stephanie Gomérez (“Law & Order”), Valerie Torres Rosario (Camelot), Martín Solá (Buena Vista Social Club), Shadia Fairuz Almasri (Real Women Have Curves), Mario Tadeo (Miss Saigon), Santiago Sepúlveda, Alejandro Navarro, and Franco Valegra.

The industry reading of BODAS is choreographed by Raechelle Manolo (Hell's Kitchen Dance Captain, Ballet Hispanico) and has lighting design by Yiyuan Li. Marina Pires is the musical supervisor, Nico Raimont is the musical director, Melody Brooks is the dramaturg, and Facundo Agustin is the assistant director. Valeria Llaneza is the Stage Manager.

BODAS is co-produced by De La Flor Company and Melody Brooks (Artistic Director, New Perspectives Theatre Company) with Kibel Manzano, Emilia Suárez, Christopher M. Ramirez, Michael and Natasha Valocchi.
