Art Institute Offering Mandarin Language Audio Guides

By: Feb. 03, 2015

In celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 19, 2015, the Art Institute of Chicago is pleased to announce that it will provide Mandarin language audio guides free of charge between February 14 and March 1. The newly created audio guide provides a tour of highlights of the Art Institute's illustrious collection with narration in Mandarin and an accompanying pamphlet guide with options in Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

Stops on the audio guide tour include Monet's Water Lilies, American Gothic by Grant Wood, Picasso's Old Guitarist, and the Thorne Miniature Rooms, which this year feature a room decorated with a shadow puppet show for Chinese New Year. A wide variety of cultures and historical periods are represented on the tour including Impressionism, African art, Indian and Southeast Asian art, Greek, Roman and Byzantine art, and Modern and Contemporary art. Visitors also will hear an overview of the history of the Art Institute, which in 2014 was voted the No. 1 Museum Worldwide on TripAdvisor.com.

Patrons can request their free Chinese language Audio guide when purchasing admission.

Happy Chinese New Year 2015, Year of the Goat.
