Help bring RENT to Edinburgh!

A new fundraising page has been started in support of bringing Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe later this year, showcasing a new video featuring original cast member Anthony Rapp and more.

Of note, the Kickstarter for RENT at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe ends on July 18.

The cast for RENT at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is set to include Johnny Newcomb, Michael Quadrino, Jonathan Christopher, Janet Krupin, Gretchen Wylder and more.

The official description of the RENT Edinburgh Kickstarter is as follows: "We are thrilled to be taking our exciting new production of Jonathan Larson's RENT to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August. Spearheaded by Dublin native, director Nicola Murphy, this production features a stellar new, diverse New York City cast which Anthony Rapp (Creative Consultant), of the original Broadway cast, has called "dynamic, authentic, and extraordinarily talented. Uncompromising Artistry is about getting back to producing in its truest sense. We are about being more than a dollar amount, a name on a page, or a marquee. Uncompromising Artistry Productions is about work with integrity, work that upholds our standards that we can be unequivocally proud of. We aim to support new work, new artists and new viewpoints. It may be an entirely new script, as is the case with Magdalen, the other show we are producing at this year's Fringe - or a new take on a classic, as is the case with RENT. As relevant today as it was in 1996 - RENT has become a classic in it's own right. Ushering in a revolution; and with it a generation of theatre-goers demanding more from a theatrical experience than escapism. With this reputation comes challenges, but we at Uncompromising Artistry are eager to present this piece in a way that is as urgent and pulsing as ever before."

The official description of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe production of RENT is as such: "Jonathan Larson's gripping rock musical is brought to life by NYC based Uncompromising Artistry Productions. The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning RENT took the world by storm when it premiered on Broadway in 1996. Seeking to recapture the immediacy of this modern day classic, UAP pays tribute to the legacy of Larson's beloved masterpiece, with artistic consultation from original cast member, Anthony Rapp. Set in New York's bohemian Alphabet City under the shadow of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, Rent illuminates the power of community and the necessity of love in our darkest times. Directed by Nicola Murphy." RENT has become a classic in its own right. It ushered in a revolution; bringing with it a generation of theatre-goers who demanded more from a theatrical experience than escapism. This production is as relevant today as it was in 1996. With this reputation comes challenges, but we are up to the task - presenting this piece in a way that is as urgent and pulsing as ever with a stamp on it that says, "this is ours". RENT will be presented at the festival from August 7th to August 31st, 2015."
