Variety reports that former American Theatre Wing president and current vice chairman Douglas Leeds has passed away. He was 63 years old.

The American Theatre Wing is a not-for-profit service organization dedicated to education and excellence in the theatre. In addition to creating and awarding the Antoinette Perry Tony Awards, ATW's programs include the long-running "Working in the Theatre" seminars and a grants and scholarship program.

Douglas Leeds had been the American Theatre Wing's vice chairman in 2003. He became president in 2004, and later returned to his role as vice chairman. Leeds helped to bring 1987's Sleight of Hand to Broadway as an associate producer, and was the founder/CEO of StoreBoard Media; additionally, he represented the American Theatre Wing as a member of The Tony Administration Committee, Tony Marketing Committee and Tony Management Committee.

Leeds is survived by his wife, Anki, as well as his daughter, mother, and sister. A public memorial service is planned.
