American Stage Will Host Summer Cabaret Series
The St. Petersburg company's series at Raymond James Theatre features yacht rock, Broadway tributes, and Rat Pack-era variety.
Three Saturdays in July. Three new cabarets – each with a unique theme. On July 11, 18, and 25, audiences are invited to experience an unforgettable lineup of music, storytelling, and celebration as American Stage presents its Summer Cabaret Series.
“This year, we wanted to give folks a really wide variety of styles,” said Associate Artistic Director Anthony Gervais. The program kicks off on July 11 with BEACH, PLEASE!, a tribute to yacht rock, continues July 18 with BLACK GIRL MAGIC, a show that will spotlight trailblazing women of color on Broadway, and conclude with SAMMY & DINO, a cabaret inspired by the classic variety shows of the Rat Pack era. The 2026 series follows last year's sold-out run, which featured celebrations of the Golden Age of musical theatre, Bossa Nova, and fan-favorite miscast Broadway performances.
This year's performances begin at 7:00 PM at the Raymond James Theatre in downtown St. Petersburg, with tickets available for $35.
“I think this is a chance to get to experience our theater slightly differently in a more relaxed, intimate way,” adds Gervais.
BEACH, PLEASE!
Saturday, July 11
BEACH, PLEASE! invites audiences to grab a margarita and enjoy performances of timeless summer hits. Featuring music made famous by legendary artists like The Beach Boys, Steely Dan, ABBA, and Hall & Oates, this cabaret blends yacht rock, pop classics, and feel-good music for the ultimate summer soundtrack. Featuring performances by Tristan Braboy, Christopher Kinney, and Ryan Joustra, last seen in American Stage's park production of Into the Woods as the Witch.
BLACK GIRL MAGIC
Saturday, July 18
Celebrating the brilliance and resilience of women of color on Broadway, BLACK GIRL MAGIC is a powerful and inspiring cabaret experience produced by Delores McKenzie. Featuring performances by Catara Brae, Mandi Jo John, and McKenzie herself, the evening showcases iconic songs from beloved musicals including Les Misérables, Wicked, Chicago, and Funny Girl, honoring groundbreaking performers who have redefined the stage.
SAMMY & DINO
Saturday, July 25
Step back into the golden age of entertainment with SAMMY & DINO, a lively tribute to two legendary performers: Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. Inspired by the classic variety shows of the Rat Pack era, this production blends music, dance, and old-school comedy to transport audiences to a bygone era of cabaret charm and charisma. The cabaret stars Renni Anthony Magee, last seen in The Outsiders on Broadway, alongside Anthony Gervais.
