The cast of Altar Boyz will record a song for the Songs of Love Foundation, described as "the only non-profit organization dedicated to providing a source of inspiration, joy and possibly even healing by creating personalized one-of-a-kind songs for sick children."

"Nathaniel's Song" will be recorded with a live audience following the performance on Tuesday, January 30th, Kid's Night on Broadway.  The recording, the 11,000th recorded by Songs of Love, will then be presented to 13-year-old Nathaniel of Dix Hills, Long Island, who will be seeing the performance that evening.

Producer Sharon Karmazin, a long time supporter of Songs of Love who brought Altar Boyz to the project, stated: "There is no more perfect group than the Altar Boyz to record a 'song of love.' The Boyz have spread their unique brand of musical joy throughout New York, the United States and the world and now, with the help of the audience on January 30, that joy will be sent out especially for a very deserving young man. I hope other shows will follow the lead of the Boyz and make the dream of a special song come true for more children like Nathaniel."

Since its founding, Songs of Love Foundation has recruited over 350 talented artists nationwide; Altar Boyz is the first off-Broadway show to be selected to participate in this valuable program. Collaborating with 300 hospitals, private health care providers, and individual families, they produce intimate musical portraits (which are never duplicated) for thousands of children and teens. The mission always remains the same: keep giving encouragement and love to those who need it most through the medicine of music.

Altar Boyz opened April 12th at ChungMu Art Hall, Seoul, Korea; a 30-week National Tour kicked off in Chicago in October; the tour continues on to Dallas, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Tempe, Tucson, and Wilmington. Pentaton Agency of Budapest will present the European Premiere at the Thalia Theatre beginning March 23rd.

Altar Boyz, the acclaimed musical comedy at New World Stages, winner of the coveted Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Off-Broadway, is "the longest running new musical comedy to open in New York in years, having just celebrated its first anniversary! Full of sharp parody, sinfully spectacular dancing, and irreverent humor, this spoof about a heavenly guy-group is adored by audiences and critics alike.  With an extraordinary mix of side-splitting songs 'convincing enough to be played on MTV,' uncontrollable laughs and lighthearted fun, this award-winning and totally original new musical is '90 minutes of pure delight' that's suitable for all ages and will have 'the whole family laughing and singing along,'" state production notes.

Altar Boyz features Landon Beard, Zach Hanna, Kyle Dean Massey, Eric Schneider, and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, and is directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, with music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker with book by Kevin Del Aguila, based on a concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport. Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman, in association with Walt Grossman, Ruth Hendel, Sharon Karmazin, Matt Murphy and Mark Shacket, present Altar Boyz.

Now beginning its third year, performances are Monday, Tuesday through Friday at 8 pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm & 7pm, at New World Stages, (340 West 50th St.). Tickets are $25 - $79.99. Tickets may be ordered at www.telecharge.com or at 212/239-6200.  For more information, visit www.altarboyz.com or call toll-free 1-877-411-ABOYZ.
