Teatro oscuro and Trumpet Fiction Productions announced today that Adam LeFevre (Mamma Mia, Taking Woodstock) and Luke Marcus Rosen (The Full Monty, Paper Mill Playhouse) have joined the cast for the staged reading of Better Lucky Than Smart by Jonathan Kravetz Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm at Theatre Row's Studio Theatre (410 West 42nd St.).

LeFevre and Rosen join the already announced cast, which includes Anne Bobby, Joseph Callari, Sarah Doudna, Synge Maher, Mark McCarthy, Stacey Raymond and Anthony Reimer.

Not-so-bright family man Henry is a schemer. He tries to pass old violins off as Stradivarii, but when his next buyers turn out to be the FBI, a topsy-turvy kidnapping plot unfolds, involving a million dollars in ransom money, a dim-bulb President, the president's femme-fatale mistress, a loopy First-Lady, not-so-slick gangsters and Henry's own twelve-year old son Tyler, who just might have the smarts and moxy that his father imagines for himself. Only Henry's wife, Jane, by revisiting her secret past, can save Tyler from the gangsters, Henry from himself, and possibly redeem the whole family in the process. Better Lucky Than Smart is an uproarious new comedy by Jonathan Kravetz, author of the critically acclaimed play Prayer (FringeNYC 2008).

The readings of Better Lucky Than Smart will take place Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm in Theatre Row's Studio Theatre (410 West 42nd St., between 9th & 10th Ave.; Subway A/C/E to 42nd St.). To RSVP for the reading, E-mail LuckySmartPlay@gmail.com.

Jonathan Kravetz's speculative drama, about a theocratic society run amok, Prayer, received universal praise ("Prayer is one of the finds of the Fringe Festival." - OffOffOnline.com). His short play, Violins, was one of five winners of the Bite Size International Playwriting competition and was performed at the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals in 2008. He is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the acclaimed literary web magazine, DUCTS.ORG (1999).
