ASSASSINS gets new cast recording on PS Classics

PS Classics has announced plans to record the cast album of Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway production of John Weidman and Stephen Sondheim's Assassins.
Nominated for 7 TONY awards including Best Revival of a Musical, the cast will go into the studios on Monday, June 7th to record with a release date scheduled for late July. Assassins opened on Broadway at Studio 54 on April 22, 2004. The musical weaves the stories of 9 individuals who planned assassination attempts - some who successful, and others who were not. Leading the dynamic cast is Neil Patrick Harris in the roles of both The Balladeer (the narrator of the piece) and Lee Harvey Oswald, Michael Cerveris as Wilkes Booth, James Barbour as Leon Czolgosz, Denis O'Hare as Charles Guiteau, Mario Cantone as Samuel Byck. Also featured are Jeffrey Kuhn as Giuseppe Zangara, Alexander Gemignani as John Hinkley. Marc Kudisch is also among the cast as the Proprietor with Becky Ann Baker as Sara Jane Moore and Mary Catherine Garrison as Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme. Assassins has a book by John Weidman; Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Musical Direction by Paul Gemignani with music orchestrated by Michael Starobin. Directed by Joe Mantello; Musical Staging by Jonathan Butterell.
