ALLEGRA West End Trailer Arrives for Maureen Lipman Comedy from Peter Quilter
Maureen Lipman stars in the heart-warming new production from the writer of End of the Rainbow.
A new trailer for ALLEGRA has arrived, offering the most complete preview yet of the West End-bound comedy ahead of its limited London engagement this summer. The footage was released through Official London Theatre as part of the campaign surrounding the production's upcoming run at the Pinter Theatre.
ALLEGRA is a new comedy with music written by Peter Quilter, the Olivier Award-nominated playwright behind END OF THE RAINBOW and GLORIOUS!. The piece centers on a woman whose deep love of music and spontaneous singing shapes the lives of everyone around her, blurring the boundaries between imagination and everyday reality. Dame Maureen Lipman, the BAFTA-nominated stage and screen veteran known to audiences across decades of theatre and television, leads the production in the title role.
The production is directed and choreographed by three-time Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear. ALLEGRA completed a UK tour ahead of its West End transfer, with the world premiere having taken place at Brighton's Theatre Royal in May — notably during the week Dame Maureen celebrated her 80th birthday. Performances at the Pinter Theatre run from 8 July through 8 August for a strictly limited season.
BroadwayWorld has followed the production closely since its earliest stages, including rehearsal photos released in April and a first-look trailer featuring Lipman in character that generated significant anticipation for the West End transfer.
