A.C. Ciulla will stage the Carousel Dinner Theatre's fall 2005 production of Footloose; it will run from September 14th to November 12th at the Akron, Ohio theatre.

With a book by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie (adapted from Pitchford's screenplay for the much-loved film on which the musical is based), lyrics by Pitchford and music by Tom Snow, Footloose
is set "somewhere in the heartland of America in the recent past" and concerns the attemps of a group of teens to dance their way out of the restrictions of square parents.  Additional songs were written by Kenny Loggins, Jim Steinman, Sammy Hagar and Eric Carmen, and the show was directed by Bobbie.

Ciulla was nominated for a Tony and Outer Circle Critics Award for choreographing Footloose and won the 1999 FANY (People's Choice Award) for Best Choreography.  He followed up with the Japanese version of Footloose, which ran two seasons in Tokyo with some of Japan's biggest pop stars.  Ciulla's also performed in Broadway's Starlight Express, and will next choreograph No Boundaries: A Hip-Hop/Soul/Rock/Gospel Musical which will be presented at the New York Musical Theater Festival.

The Carousel Dinner Theatre will update the look of the 1984 film by setting the musical in the present, according to a press article.
