ABC Family Developing TV Adaptation of Off-Broadway Musical RATED P FOR PARENTHOOD with Kelly Ripa

According to Deadline, ABC Family is developing a TV adaptation of the Off-Broadway musical RATED P FOR PARENTHOOD with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' Milojo Productions and Jamie Denbo.

With book and lyrics by Sandy Rustin, music and lyrics by Dan Lipton & David Rossmer and direction by Jeremy Dobrish, Rated P for Parenthood chronicles every stage of modern-day parenting, from conception to college, with giant doses of heart and humor.

Denbo is set to pen the adaptation's script, and will executive produce alongside husband-wife team Consuelos and Ripa.

RATED P FOR PARENTHOOD enjoyed an Off-Broadway run in 2012, before closing on April 8.

The production was officially described as:

"A versatile cast of four takes the audience through the ups and downs of childrearing - from the sublime to the ridiculous - in a series of comic and musical vignettes in under 90 minutes. A hilarious, fresh, and decidedly irreverent look at an age old topic, Rated P provides all the wistful joy of childrearing a fraction of the cost of braces!"

Ripa currently hosts the morning sydicated talkie Live! alongside Michael Strahan, while Consuelos will soon be seen in the upcoming Amazon comedy series Alpha House.
