Director Joel Sass and actor Kate Eifrig team up to bring Heather Raffo's profoundly moving 9 Parts of Desire to the Guthrie. Examining the lives of nine indelible women, the acclaimed one-woman show runs March 1 - 23 in the Dowling Studio. Tickets are priced from $18 to $34 and are on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE and online at www.guthrietheater.org.

"9 Parts of Desire delves into the lives of nine women - eight Iraqi, one American - as each struggles to attain her own definition of liberation. A portrait of the extraordinary (and ordinary) lives of these women, this heartbreaking and astonishingly topical work is an unusually timely meditation on the ancient, the modern and the feminine in a country overshadowed by war. While the women's professions differ greatly, the ultimate impact of their testimony is the same: a vivid understanding of what it means to be a woman in Iraq, enduring unimaginable savagery and maintaining a belief in love and the possibility of finding peace," explain press notes.

Eifrig again teams with Sass, having worked together on numerous shows, including the Guthrie's 2005 production of Pericles. Local audiences will also recognize her from roles in memorable productions like 10,000 Things Theatre's Little Shop of Horrors, Ordway Center's Love, Janis and the Jungle Theater's Recent Tragic Events.

The Guthrie is located at 818 South 2nd Street (at Chicago Avenue), in downtown Minneapolis. To purchase tickets or season subscriptions call the Guthrie Box Office between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily at 612.377.2224 or toll-free 877.44.STAGE.
