It's so exciting to kick off our Festival for the first time ever during the summer. Shifting to July was a scary decision to make at first until we dove in – then it became clear it was meant to be. All sorts of doors have opened up to support the Festival in our new time slot – including the incredible support of the City of New York's Theatre Sub district Council. With that help, we were able to set up our first-ever NYMF Hub – a musical theatre lover's oasis right on 42nd Street.
The NYMF Hub is almost like a mini Festival in itself! It is an example of our continual effort to expand the accessibility of the Festival. Anyone can come and experience the great energy and union of talent that makes NYMF unlike anything else in the world. The NYMF Hub has been open to the public since June 18 and serves as a box office, information center, and site for free performances and panel discussions. We have networking events for aspiring producers, directors, and writers, and free talkbacks with the casts and creators of Festival shows.
As always, we've got a fantastic array of shows, concerts, readings, and special events. This may be our most diverse line-up ever – from literary icons to Filipino prisoners, from ska-flavored high school stories to bloody B-movie adaptations, from serious-minded oratorios to tap-dancing romantic comedies. Come check them all out over the next 21 days and become a part of the NYMF community!
Sincerely,
Isaac Robert Hurwitz
