Museum President Ellen V. Futter and Hayden Planetarium Director Neil deGrasse Tyson will officially start the festivities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Frederick Phineas and Sandra Priest Rose Center for Earth and Space. The American Museum of Natural History welcomes visitors to a special celebration for all ages featuring exciting performances, a special appearance by NASA astronaut Michael Massimino, live concerts, hands-on activities, a discussion with Chair of the Division of Physical Sciences Mordecai-Mark Mac Low, and the world premiere of the new Big Bang presentation narrated by the internationally renowned actor Liam Neeson.

In the evening there will be a special ticketed Isaac Asimov Debate on whether other planets might have the necessary conditions to support life moderated by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Among the highlights celebrating 10 years of achievements in Earth and space science:

· Ellen Futter and Neil deGrasse Tyson will welcome visitors, followed by the cutting and serving of birthday cake (11 am).

· Space Panorama: British performer Andrew Dawson recreates the historic Apollo 11 flight using only hand movements, facial expressions, narration, music, and a table.

· AstroCappella: The Chromatics, a unique singing group that blends astronomy and music, perform songs about the wonders of the universe.

· Native American Sky Stories: Grammy Award-winner Joanne Shenandoah and historian Doug George present Native American Sky Stories with music, dance, and more.

· Astrophysics Curator Mordecai-Mark Mac Low and Director of Astrovisualization Carter Emmart discuss the art and science behind the creation of the new Big Bang presentation

· View a Moon rock, watch a mini-planetarium show featuring Sesame Street friends, experience work in space with astronaut glove boxes, and meet with astronaut Michael Massimino.

· The evening concludes with a special Rose Center Anniversary Isaac Asimov Debate, "Is Earth Unique?," hosted by Frederick P. Rose Hayden Planetarium Director Neil deGrasse Tyson.
