Playscripts, Inc. has announced that it has published Dan Gordon's triumphant Broadway play "Irena's Vow". This original script is now available for performance licensing through Playscripts, Inc.

The play, based on the remarkable true story of a Catholic housekeeper that saves twelve Jewish prisoners during World War II, made a successful run on Broadway this past summer, and was even attended by the Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan. "I haven't been moved like this in a long time," Dolan said of the performance.

The true story begins with 19-year-old Irena Gut as she is promoted to housekeeper in the home of a highly respected Nazi officer when she finds out that her friends' Jewish ghetto is about to be liquidated. Determined to help the twelve Jewish workers, she decides to shelter them in the safest place she can think of: the basement of the German commandant's house. Over the next two years, Irena uses her wit, humor, and courage to hide her friends until the end of the German occupation, concealing them in the midst of countless Nazi parties, a blackmail scheme, and even the birth of a child. Her story is one of the most inspiring of our time.
