Anchorage Community Theatre Announces 2010-11 Season:

Witness for the Prosecution
by Agatha Christie

Only Agatha Christie could have conceived of such a convincing thriller. Leonard Vole is an unemployed inventor, his latest contraption being a new-fangled egg beater. When he is arrested for the sensational murder of a rich widow, the famous Sir Wilfrid Robarts agrees to appear on his behalf. Vole's only alibi witness is his wife, the calm and coldly calculating Christine Vole. Sir Wilfrid's task becomes even more impossible when Christine agrees to be a witness not for the defense but for the prosecution.

Performing Oct 1 - 24, 2010
Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 3 PM

A Christmas Story
by Jean Shepherd

Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself, at Goldblatt's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out." A Christmas Story has become a theatrical holiday classic.

Performing November 26 - December 19, 2010
Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 3 PM

Little Women
by Louisa May Alcott
Directed by Erin Dagon Mitchell

Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women in 1867 based on her own childhood and that of her three sisters. Little Women has charmed and empowered adults and children around the world, inspiring the careers of J.K. Rowling among many others. Women such as Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O'Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former First Lady and librarian Laura Bush cite Little Women as the most influential book of their childhoods. Anchorage playwright Shane Mitchell is authoring the adaption of the novel that ACT will present.

Performing January 28 - February 20, 2011
Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 3 PM

Lend Me a Tenor
by Ken Ludwig

Winner of 3 Tony Awards and 4 Drama Desk Awards. Tito Morelli, the greatest tenor of his generation, is to appear for one night only as Otello. The star arrives late and, through a hilarious series of mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers, passes out and is believed to have died. In a frantic attempt to salvage the evening, the producer's assistant is persuaded to get into Morelli's Otello costume and fool the audience. He succeeds admirably, but Morelli comes to and gets into his other costume ready to perform. Now two Otellos are running around in costume and two women are running around in lingerie. A sensation on Broadway and in London's West End, this madcap, screwball comedy is guaranteed to leave audiences teary-eyed with laughter. "Uproarious! Hysterical!"-USA Today "Screamingly funny!"-CBS Radio.

Performing March 11 - April 3, 2011
Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 3 PM

Pump Boys and Dinettes
by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel and Jim Wann.
Directed by Wayne Mitchell.

Right down the road on Highway 51 you'll find Jim and JM's gas station. Next door is Rhetta and Prudie Cupp's Double Cupp Diner. To look at it, you wouldn't know that this little stop is where all the action is. But trust us, once the boys get that guitar and bass fiddle revved up, you won't want to be anywhere else. Packed with hummable, hilarious songs like "Be Good or Be Gone," "Tips," and "The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine," it's a foot-stomping good time that will make you want to order a big slice of cherry pie and a second cup of coffee, before you hit the road in search of life's simple pleasures.

Performing April 29 - May 22, 2011
Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 3 PM
