BWW Previews: SISTER ACT at Albuquerque Little Theatre

Sister Act is the next musical presented by Albuquerque Little Theatre. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, it is based on the 1992 Touchstone Pictures movie of the same name. It opens on March 9th and runs through March 31st.

Sister Act follows Deloris Van Cartier who is an aspiring singer in Philadelphia. After she accidentally witnesses a murder, she is placed in hiding by the police at a convent. While Deloris finds the convent to be one of the worst experiences in the world, she finds that she has a lot in common with the nuns and that they aren't that different from her. Working with the struggling choir at the convent gives Deloris a bigger purpose in her life, as well as the love and affection she had been missing.

Albuquerque Little Theatre's production of Sister Act is directed by Henry Avery with musical direction by Cheryl Sharps and choreography by Peter Bennett. The cast includes April Ball as Deloris Van Cartier, Jonathan Gallegos as Eddie, Mark Pino as Curtis, Shelly Andes as Mother Superior, Amy Carter as Sister Mary Robert, Steven Weitz as Monsignor O'Hara, Ashley Lopez as Sister Mary Patrick, Laura Nuzum as Sister Mary Lazarus, Dawn Durkin as Sister Mary Martin, Shirley Roach as Sister Mary Theresa, Jason Wiley as Joey, Xavier Visage as TJ, Joe Moncada as Pablo, Megan Chavez as Michelle, and Stephanie Simon as Tina.
