Theatre Republic heads to the big apple with the world premiere production of Emily Steel’s sharply observed drama HOW NOT TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA at the Adelaide Festival Centre.
From new Australian works and a big, bold new musical to a shaken-up classic and celebration of an Australian sporting legend, State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2022 season is a platform for powerhouse performances.
In The Appleton Ladies' Potato Race, Penny (Anna Steen) returns to her childhood home just in time for the Appleton Show and its famous potato race, where the winning man's prize is $1,000 and the winning woman's prize is… $200? Not if Penny has anything to do with it. The determined doctor swings into action to right this wrong, but not without some obstacles along the way.
Presented by State Theatre Company South Australia and Country Arts SA, Euphoria stars James Smith (Jasper Jones) and Ashton Malcolm (Rumpelstiltskin), under the direction of Nescha Jelk (Jasper Jones, RUMPUS). Following its official opening in Renmark at the end of April, Euphoria moves to the Space Theatre for a limited season in May, before heading on an extensive regional tour.
A boisterous, topical and entertaining year of theatre is on offer for South Australians in the 2021 season from State Theatre Company South Australia.
More than 30 of the state's finest established and emerging artists will collaborate and present a series of isolation-inspired stories in an exciting new online project from State Theatre Company South Australia and ActNow Theatre.
A provocative new festival piece, a premiere Australian work, reimagined international and Australian classics and a post-modern masterpiece that rocks the very foundations of theatre itself are just some of the highlights making up State Theatre Company South Australia's 2020 season, the first program from its new artistic director Mitchell Butel.
