Tony Winner Robert Klein Set for American Jewish Historical Society Benefit
The American Jewish Historical Society (AJHS) is pleased to announce that Grammy, Tony, and Emmy-nominated comedian and actor Robert Klein will perform a one-night-only benefit supporting the AJHS. The special event at AJHS (15 West 16th Street), entitled "Robert Klein - An Evening of Comedy and Music to Benefit AJHS," will be held Thursday, May 12. Doors will open at 7 pm and the performance will begin at 7:30 pm.
Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit The AJHS Archive of American Jewish Entertainers. AJHS (www.ajhs.org) is the oldest ethnic, cultural archive in the United States.
For more than 40 years the Bronx-born Klein has entertained audiences, and he continues to have an acclaimed career in comedy, on Broadway, on television, and in film. Klein's new documentary "Robert Klein Still Can't Stop His Leg," premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this month, and he recently appeared in Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee."
Klein was nominated twice for Grammy Awards for "Best Comedy Album of the Year" for his albums "Child of the Fifties" and "Mind over Matter." Klein received a Tony Award Nomination for Best Actor for his performance in the hit Neil Simon musical, "They're Playing Our Song."
"Robert embodies the spirit of our organization. He has made comedy history time and again, and he is certainly an iconic Jewish American. We are so thrilled that he is presenting his stand-up here at AJHS" said Rachel Lithgow, executive director of the American Jewish Historical Society.
Ticket prices are $125 for general admission seating, $250 for preferred seating, and $500 for VIP seating that includes a signed copy of Klein's book, "The Amorous Busboy of Decatur Avenue." All tickets include access to a post-show cocktail reception.
