Autistic Man Debuts Comedy Act at Gotham City Comedy Club

By:

Autistic man, Peter Eichler, is set to debut his comedy act on October 16 at 6 pm in NYC at the Gotham City Comedy Club. Peter Eichler (43) of South Orange, NJ suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a mild form of autism. Comedy has become part of his personal therapy program.

"People with Asperger's aren't known for humor. They are known for being very serious. I'm preparing to break through the seriousness and show a silly side," said Peter Eichler. "I'm also attempting the near impossible feat of creating an act without cursing, sex and put-downs; and still appeal to drunken adults and sober 6 year olds."

Peter hits the stage October 16 at 6pm in NYC at the Gotham City Comedy Club located at 208 West 23rd St. NY, NY.

Asperger's has been identified in 3 generations of his family; Peter's father was posthumously diagnosed in 2008, Peter was diagnosed at age 40 and his son was diagnosed at age 5. Since his diagnosis, Peter has dedicated his life to understanding the condition, exploring therapies and improving the quality of life for those with Asperger's.

Peter has created a non-profit, Adam to Adam. His goal is to bring awareness to the entire spectrum of autism and encourage creativity, relaxation and humor as part of autistic therapy. Peter believes that with proper support and therapy an autistic person can lead a full life that includes creativity, laughter and strong social bonds. His comedy debut is living proof.
