Direct from an off-Broadway season at the Manhattan Theatre Club, ASCAP Cole Porter Award winner Benjamin Scheuer returns to the St. James Studio.

One man, six guitars and an incredible story of love, loss and survival. ASCAP Cole Porter Award winner Benjamin Scheuer returns to St. James Studio with his brilliant solo musical show, which sold out there under its original title The Bridge last October, following an award-winning premiere season at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Benjamin Scheuer is a composer, lyricist, record producer, and performing musician who trained at Harvard University. He writes for and leads the band Escapist Papers, in which he sings and plays guitar. Writing credits include Jihad! The Musical (Edinburgh Festival and Jermyn Street Theatre), The Nightingale and the Rose (Metropolis Opera Project, New York) and What Would Nora Say (Roundabout Theatre Company). Scheuer owns and runs Escapist Recording Studios in New York, where he produces his and other people's records. He was a 2010 fellow at the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Workshop and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Currently he is the Writer-in-Residence at the Goodspeed Theatre and Weston Playhouse. Benjamin won the 2014 ASCAP Cole Porter Award and the Musical Theatre Network Best Lyrics Award.

Director Sean Daniels is currently the Artist-At-Large at the Geva Theatre Centre, New York. Previously he was Associate Artistic Director at the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Associate Artistic Director and Resident Director of the California Shakespeare Theater and Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Dad's Garage Theater Company, Atlanta.

The Lion was originally developed from an album of songs that Benjamin Scheuer wrote and premiered at Lincoln Center in 2012. The title track was made into a video by animator/ director Peter Baynton and premiered at the Annecy Animated Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Award for Best Commissioned Film. It also won the Public Choice Award for Best Music Video at the British Animation Awards.
