Alexandra Palace is undergoing one of the most exciting periods of its 150-year history: a complete restoration of the East Wing. This includes the reinstatement of the Victorian Theatre, hidden for over 80 years reopening the historic television studios, known globally as the birthplace of television from where the BBC began broadcasting 80 years ago; and a restored East Court. Marking the single largest investment in the Palace for a generation, the project is set to return Ally Pally's historic East Wing to the public for 2018, preserving an important legacy and continuing the original ethos of the 'People's Palace'.

A permanent tribute to the people who help restore one of London's most iconic buildings ...

This is part of a £27m restoration programme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Haringey Council, with the final £1m to be raised through public funding. To this end, Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust has launched a dedicated donation website, support.alexandrapalace.com with a number of ways to donate directly to either the Victorian Theatre or TV Studios restoration and to have a permanent name credit in one of London's most historic landmarks.

Comedian, presenter and writer, Rowland Rivron, who lives close to the Palace, has also written five sell-out 'Pantos on Ice' for the Palace ice rink, and has lent his support and a little sparkle to the fund raising campaign. Straight from performing in this year's extravaganza Beauty and the Beast, which he also MCs, Rivron said: "Alexandra Palace is held in great affection by Londoners and we've all been saddened that so much has remained derelict for so long. I am thrilled to see this new, exciting chapter unfolding for the whole building. Sponsoring a theatre seat is a wonderful way to support, be involved and be a tangible part of history."

Donation and gifting options ...

The perfect gift for a theatre lover or history buff, a public tribute, personal memoriam or legacy to children or grandchildren; whatever the reason, this is a once-in-a-generation, limited opportunity to be part of the fabric of this extraordinary building.

All donors of £25 or more will have their chosen name included on the donor board, to be installed as a permanent fixture of the redeveloped East Court in 2018. A donation of £450 to the theatre restoration will also secure a permanent engraved named plaque on one of the 309 retractable seats in the theatre stalls, while a £900 donation will include the added permanence of a name plaque on one of the 323 fixed seats in the balcony. Further opportunities for donors include preview tours of the theatre and TV studios, ahead of the public unveiling, and exclusive tickets to the historic television studios' launch party.
