Sir Peter Hall was awarded the Moscow Art Theatre's Golden Seagull for his contribution to world theatre at the Evening Standard theatre awards in London. This marks the second award in a week for the Rose Theatre following their award for Best Commitment to the Community at the Kingston Business Awards 2010.

During his speech Sir Peter Hall expressed his concern over cuts to arts funding and asked the audience of actors and directors to make "loud noises" against budget cuts.

Sir Peter was presented with the award by his daughter Rebecca Hall, whom he directed in AS YOU LIKE IT at the Rose's In The Raw season in 2005, before the theatre's official opening in 2008. Most recently at the Rose, Sir Peter Hall directed Dame Judi Dench as Titania in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM.
