Joe Layton is joining the cast of Jonathan Lewis' new play A Level Playing Field in the role of the young teacher, Patrick Preston, from 14th April -9th May at the Jermyn Street Theatre.

The play is set in the music room of a top fee-paying London school where a group of 18-year-olds must sit out an hour of "isolation" to cover a clash of exams and avoid the risk of cheating. But their supervising teacher has failed to turn up. In dealing with the dilemmas of the situation, the pupils gradually reveal a darker side to the pressures they are under. Then in walks Mr Preston and the tension reaches breaking point.

11 teenagers portray their own generation in this roller-coaster tale of hope, identity and shattered dreams. A hilariously frightening take on the aspirations of the so-called 'Me Me Me Generation', this dark new comedy blows the debate on educational values wide open in the authentic voice of those for whom it matters most - the kids.

Joe Layton's theatre credits include Animal Farm at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Ignition with Frantic Assembly. He will soon be on our screens in BBC Three's new drama series, 'Tatau'.

The full cast for A Level Playing Field is Jack Bass, Isabella Caley, Eve Delaney, Christian Hines, Joe Layton, Abe Lewis, Jojo Macari, India Opzoomer, Elsa Perryman Owens, Finlay Stroud, Joe Taylor and Lydia Williams.

A Level Playing Field is produced by Banter Productions in association with Jermyn Street Theatre. Director is Chris Popert.
