Award winning burlesque artist, storyteller and comedienne Zoe Charles brings cheek and charm to Brighton Fringe.

Memoirs of a Slutsky, written and performed by Zoe Charles and directed by Gareth Brierley of White Rabbit and The People Show is a charming, cheeky and downright hilarious true story of a girl in search of normal and finding naughty!

The audience is taken on a guided tour of Zoe's life behind the glamour of burlesque as we travel back in time to a small suburban town in the late 1980s, where there are three mums, two dads, eight kids, five cats, three gerbils, two rabbits and one council house! Laugh-out-loud funny, gritty and moving, the show explores Zoe's search for a biological father and finds to her great surprise that she is a half Polish/Lithuanian Jew by the name of Slutsky!

Zoe is the founder of the International Burlesque and Cabaret School, The Cheek of It! described as "The Best School of its kind in London if not the UK" by London Burlesque Festival producer Chaz Royal. The school has now trained over 3000 women worldwide since 2007. In 2009 Zoe was featured on Channel 4's 'The Sex Education Show' where she took presenter Anna Richardson from burlesque novice to a teasing temptress complete with a live performance. In 2010 Zoe made a big splash in Serbia, making front page news alongside Julia Roberts and gracing Serbian versions of 'MTV' and 'This Morning'. Zoe was even invited to compete in Serbian Celebrity Big Brother (which she politely declined). In 2011 Zoe founded World Femininity Day ( A day celebrating femininity and campaigning against Female Genital Cutting) attracting the interest of over 3032 people from over 73 countries. In 2012 Zoe won a London Cabaret Award for her contribution to the Burlesque Industry.

Memoirs of a Slutsky won the audience award for best cabaret show at The Mimetic Festival in 2013, had two sold out nights at The Leicester Square Lounge Theatre and will feature in The Brighton Fringe as part of a special weekend highlighting bold and provocative performances by women artists at The Marlborough Theatre. Tickets are available from boxoffice.brightonfringe.org. For more information contact Zoe Charles, carryoncharles@gmail.com, 07967931559
