Hometown Christmas, a local production that began more than a decade ago, has grown into a must-see for locals. Why, you may wonder? Probably because it features local people on stage. The nucleus of the show is the Smoot House Band along with local singers and dancers. The music is simply traditional holiday music all decked out in not-so-traditional settings.
This year’s show is full of surprises. They range from a grumpy old man who evolves into a more pleasant character as the night go on to a beautiful young lady who tries to charm Santa Baby into bringing her expensive gifts, to a stirring rendition of O Holy Night, to an appearance from the Praise Hymns of Stout Memorial and an always welcome visit from Johnny Staats as he accompanies Mary Did You Know.
