The Greenbrier VAlley Theatre will present THE HAPPY MEMORIES CLUB, based on a short story from "Mrs. Darcy and the Blue-Eyed Stranger" by Lee Smith, from April 19th-22nd.

Barbara Bates Smith, known to local audiences from IVY ROWE, returns to GVT for a production linked to her memory writing workshop. Based on a Lee Smith story, Alice, a retirEd English teacher, joins a writing group and is encouraged to share her work, as long as the subject matter is pleasant and meaningful. When the proper southern ladies in the group decide her memories aren’t “happy” enough for the club, Alice refuses to give in, and in doing so, finds a freedom she has not experienced in years.

Greenbrier VAlley Theatre is a live-performance theatre and much more. GVT is involved in all aspects of the arts and humanities, with people of all ages.
