Swindon Youth Theatre will be offering a day of free drama workshops on Saturday 23rd May as part of the Wyvern Theatre's celebrations during Voluntary Arts Week.

During its run of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Wyvern is a national partner in this annual celebration of cultural creativity across the UK. There will be a number of activities encouraging and inspiring more people to discover the joy of taking part.

Sixth Sense Theatre, Swindon's only professional theatre company, will hold free drama workshops for ages 4-19 years. Adults who would like to see shows for free at the Wyvern can find out more about the benefits of becoming a volunteer usher. There will also be information about joining the Wyvern Theatre Foundation, a charity helping children in Swindon and the surrounding areas and to become involved with all aspects of the performing arts. The Wyvern Theatre Foundation funds bursaries for several members of Swindon Youth Theatre.

Free drama sessions on the day will be:

10:30am-11:45am ages 4&5yrs

11.45am-1pm ages 7-10yrs

1.30pm-3pm ages 11-13yrs

3pm-5pm ages 14yrs+

Derek Aldridge, Wyvern Theatre Director, said, "It's great that during such an important week we are able to offer free ways for young people and adults to celebrate the many ways in which theatre can bring communities together. We're looking forward to the Wyvern bursting that day with adults and children enjoying professional productions as well as the drama workshops funded by Voluntary Arts."
