Theatre N16 is proud to announce the appointment of Scott Ellis as the new artistic director of Theatre N16, as current artistic director Jamie Eastlake takes over the executive directorship of the theatre. This handover takes effect from April 3rd 2017.

Scott has been working at Theatre N16 as programming co-ordinator, and his excelling in the role has allowed the venue to expand its programming and rehearsal room offering over the last six months. His promotion acknowledges the huge impact he has had in his role at Theatre N16, and his work with Merely Theatre in genderblind casting and ambitiously programmed repertory work in mid-scale regional venues speaks to the values that Theatre N16 holds dear.

Scott says: "In such a simple space theatre has to be based on the writing, acting and directing. I'm delighted to take over a space that focuses on the quality of these core factors alongside making sure that emerging theatre makers have a place to put on their work with a realistic potential of financial rewards for all artists involved."

Jamie Eastlake, current artistic director of Theatre N16, will be stepping into the executive director role at the theatre, focusing on fundraising and theatre management as well as touring and outside productions, either developed at or produced in association with the theatre.

Jamie says "We started Theatre N16 with a team of three - and in the move to Balham in 2015, we became a team of two. Technical manager Tom Burgess and I have now been running the space for the last two years, covering all aspects of production, show programming and venue, theatre and rehearsal room management - and I won't deny that it's been a thrilling ride, but it's also been an exhausting one. We've been looking to expand the team at the venue, and Scott's hard work and engagement made him an easy fit with us. His appointment also means I can focus on the more "business"-y aspects of the venue, and what happens to the shows we work on after their run at Theatre N16. We've transferred shows to and from the Edinburgh and Brighton Festivals, as well as longer runs in London, and we'd like to continue to expand in that direction."

Scott is joined by new associate director and assistant to the artistic director Courtney Larkin, who is also promoted internally from her role as production co-ordinator.

Theatre N16 is a trailblazing theatre company, dedicated to creating a creative hub where new and existing works can be explored and pushed into new realms. Theatre N16 is proud of their commitment to the welfare of creatives, operating under an Equity Fringe Agreement. This promoting and nurturing of talent means that Theatre N16 is a bastion for development within the context of a society in which the arts are increasingly struggling to stay afloat.
