Scéalta Móra is proud to present the World Premiere of Asking Rembrandt by internationally acclaimed playwright Steve Gooch, whose Female Transport continues to be produced a dozen times throughout the world each year. This incisive new play examines the working life of the famous artist, as well as when art and emotion overlaps. The production runs June 23rd - July 18th, 2015 at the Old Red Lion Theatre. Press Night: June 25th, 2015, 7.30pm.

Based around the few known facts of Rembrandt's relationship with patron Jan Six, as well as mistress Hendrickje Stoffels, this new play looks at the perils of the commissioning process through the working life of this most formidable artist. Told with the irreverent, award-winning wit that has seen Steve Gooch's plays performed in a dozen countries around the globe, Asking Rembrandt offers an intimate insight into the studio and personal life of one of history's most innovatory figures.

The show will be directed by Jonathan Kemp, whose numerous credits include the Offie-nominated Prostitutes Marry in May at Waterloo East and the national touring productions of The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Sce?alta Mo?ra are best known for their production of Warde Street at the Park Theatre in 2014, which won widespread acclaim and was nominated for Offie Awards for Best New Play, Best Director and Best Male.
